THE CROSSFIT OPEN 2023
3 WEEKS, 3 WORKOUTS FEBRUARY 16th – MARCH 6th
Whether you’re new to us here at Starke or you are a seasoned competitor, the Open is fun for everyone.

In more recent year the Open has grown and offers a lot of different options to participate. Back in the day, they only had an RX version for men and women. Now they have scaled, age group and RX divisions so ANYONE at any level can participate.

It’s a lot of fun, you’ll challenge yourself to do things you may not have done before AND getting out of your comfort zone and trying something new is the only way to grow and learn.

We’ve got a couple options to participate. One is in scheduled classes on Saturdays and the other is signing up for the Open at games.crossfit.com Read more below for details.

THE OPEN IN SATURDAY GROUP CLASSES
This year we will be performing the Open workouts in Friday classes  classes so all members can attempt a version of the open workout. If you don’t want to sign up for the open BUT want to experience the workout this is your chance. The Open workouts have standards and prescribed weights which we will be able to modify in classes. We will also give different variations of the workout to make it enjoyable in a class setting but extending the length, making it a partner option or tweaking it accordingly. For those that want to hit it as it’s written on the CrossFit Games website, you’re welcome to do that as well.

SIGNING UP FOR THE CROSSFIT OPEN
Open Workouts will be held on Saturday from 11:00am-2pm

For this option you’ll need to do the following.
1. Sign up at games.crossfit.com on-line (use the link below)
2. Come on Saturday as early as 10:30/11:00am and start moving and warming up. First heats will begin around 11:30am
3. You MUST have a way of recording and submitting your Open workout. Starke IS NOT a CrossFit affiliate so workouts need to be judged like anyone else AND submitted by video to be accepted. Use your phone, gopro iPad or any other recording device.
4. IF you’re recording your workout it is STRONGLY recommended that you use the FREE app WOD Proof as a clock needs to be in the picture the whole time and the gym clock can’t always bee seen depending on where the workout is being performed. Download the app, create a profile AND PLAY AROUND WITH IT so you have an idea of how it works on race day.
5. If you can’t participate on Saturday you’ll need to find a judge to judge you in open gym (outside of class times) on Friday or Monday to have your score judged and validated.
6. We strongly encourage everyone participating to take the judges course. Not only will it allow you to judge other members BUT it will help drill movements and technique that you’ll be required to use in your own workouts. CROSSFIT JUDGES COURSE
