Ben Fransoo first came to Starke in 2016 for a physiotherapy appointment and left as an athlete. After training at Starke for several months Ben moved from Winnipeg to Toronto then out to Harrison BC. When Ben finally came back to the peg he immediately started the CDP program at Starke.

Ben Loves to see athletes develop physically and mentally in the gym and how it carries over into their every day lives.

Ben says, “The best part about being a coach is seeing someone accomplish something they didn’t think was possible. Having the opportunity to coach people through progressions until they finally reach their goal is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world”.

Ben started out as an endurance athlete with a background in the sport of Triathlon and Duathlon. He then took up weightlifting in 2014 and won a bronze medal in the 2015 Manitoba Open as an 85 kg lifter hoisting a 180kg (396lbs) total. In 2017 Ben took a silver medal in the Manitoba Senior championships as a 95kg lifter with a 233kg (510lb) total.

When Ben’s not coaching or training, this barista can be found serving up something hot at and sweet at Starbucks, playing the guitar, or banging on some drums pretending to look like he knows what he’s doing.

Ben’s favorite quote is “Jump off the cliff, adn learn how to fly on the way down.” – Elliot Hulse
